Wale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, has shaped the company into sub-Saharan Africa’s leading integrated energy group.

Mr. Tinubu co-founded Ocean & Oil Group in 1993, transforming it from an oil trading company to a major player in the oil and gas industry. Under his leadership, Oando PLC acquired Unipetrol PLC and Agip Nig PLC, expanding significantly in the downstream sector. His strategic vision led to Oando’s dominance in gas distribution and petroleum marketing in Nigeria. This has evolved into leadership in the upstream, with the Group’s acquisition of two IOC businesses in Nigeria: ConocoPhillips in 2014 and recently Eni’s NAOC in August 2024. In 2021, he launched Oando Clean Energy Limited, focusing on sustainable energy solutions. Beyond business, his dedication extends to education through the Oando Foundation, significantly impacting Nigerian public schools and students.

Mr. Tinubu’s contributions to Nigeria's energy sector and his philanthropic efforts in education and humanitarian aid have earned him numerous accolades, including the Commander of the Order of the Niger. His leadership continues to influence the energy landscape, advancing innovations and sustainability initiatives. He is an alumnus of the University of Liverpool and the London School of Economics, where he earned degrees in law before embarking on a successful legal career.
