Nmesoma Francess Okereke
Nmesoma (Soma) holds a combined Masters in Engineering (MEng) degree in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from the University of Nottingham. During the course of obtaining her degree, she gained practical experience during a year-long industrial placement at a gas compressor manufacturing company in Switzerland, where she worked as a supply chain intern, optimising the raw material requirement planning (MRP) process for the company's Asian subsidiary.
After her graduation, Soma returned to Nigeria and worked in the energy sector. She served as a business operations analyst at an oil and gas servicing company, contributing to various project tenders, including the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Project (NGFCP). Later, as a corporate planner/strategist at Newcross Petroleum Limited, she played a key role in facilitating the corporate strategies & target using the resource & manpower of this gas condensate asset.
Her diverse experience across Nigeria's energy value chain has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the sector, particularly the challenges related to energy poverty and access to clean & reliable energy. Currently, Soma works at Neuman & Esser, Deutschland as a Sales Manager - Flare Gas Recovery Specialist, where she focuses on developing and marketing integrated gas commercialisation solutions for the African market, particularly Nigeria, in a bid to enhance energy security and facilitate the continent's energy transition.
