IAE 2027 Introduces B2G Day to Accelerate Government-Investor Engagement

IAE 2027 Introduces B2G Day to Accelerate Government-Investor Engagement

From Namibia's offshore discoveries and Angola's licensing strategy to LNG developments in Mozambique and Mauritania-Senegal, Africa's energy investment pipeline continues to expand. Turning these opportunities into financed, bankable projects, however, requires closer alignment between governments, investors and strategic partners.

Responding to this need, the Invest in African Energy (IAE) 2027 Forum will open with a dedicated Business-to-Government (B2G) Day on May 11, launching three days of investment-focused discussions and deal-making in Paris. The pre-conference program will bring together sovereign delegations, development finance institutions, national and international oil companies, export credit agencies, private investors and strategic partners for targeted discussions around government priorities, financing requirements and project development opportunities across Africa’s energy sector.

The day will begin with Government-to-Business Investment Showcases, providing governments with a platform to present upcoming licensing rounds, infrastructure developments and investment priorities directly to a curated audience of investors and industry stakeholders.

The afternoon will feature strategic roundtables and exclusive investor circles focused on the issues shaping African energy investment, including upstream development, gas commercialization, infrastructure financing, NOC-IOC partnerships, energy security and the expanding role of development finance institutions and alternative sources of capital. Through moderated, closed-door discussions, the sessions will enable more direct engagement between policymakers, investors and project developers.

The introduction of B2G Day reflects broader shifts in Africa’s energy financing landscape. As international commercial banks become increasingly selective in hydrocarbon lending, projects across the continent are attracting greater participation from export credit agencies, multilateral lenders, regional development banks, sovereign wealth funds and private investors seeking long-term opportunities across the energy value chain. At the same time, governments are prioritizing domestic gas utilization, industrial development, regional energy integration and infrastructure expansion, creating demand for financing models that extend beyond traditional upstream investment.

Against this backdrop, IAE 2027 aims to provide governments and investors with an early-stage engagement platform to align priorities, identify partnership opportunities and build relationships that can support projects from concept through development and financing.

The launch of B2G Day builds on IAE’s growing role as a platform for commercial engagement. The 2026 edition welcomed more than 300 companies from over 50 countries and facilitated the signing of three upstream agreements across frontier African markets, reinforcing the forum’s role in advancing investment dialogue and cross-border partnerships.

The Invest in African Energy Forum returns to Paris for its fifth edition on 11-13 May, 2027. To sponsor or register as a delegate, contact sales@energycapitalpower.com. For more information, visit www.invest-africa-energy.com.
