)
Mario Bello, Head of Sub-Saharan Africa at Eni, has been confirmed as a speaker at the upcoming Invest in African Energy (IAE) Forum in Paris, set to take place on May 13-14, 2025.
Eni has been a longstanding partner in Africa’s energy landscape, operating in more than a dozen countries with a diversified portfolio spanning oil, natural gas and renewables. The company plays a pivotal role in some of the region’s largest energy projects, including the Coral South Floating LNG (FLNG) facility in Mozambique – Africa’s first deepwater FLNG project – as well as the development of the parallel Coral North FLNG. In the Republic of Congo, Eni is advancing its flagship Congo LNG project, which is set to produce 3 million tons per annum by the end of 2025, and recently reached a milestone with the installation of the Nene Wellhead Platform 1.
IAE 2025 is an exclusive forum designed to facilitate investment between African energy markets and global investors. Taking place May 13-14, 2025 in Paris, the event offers delegates two days of intensive engagement with industry experts, project developers, investors and policymakers. In the upstream sector, Eni recently commenced successful production from Phase 2 of the Baleine field and plans to drill appraisal wells on the significant Calao gas discovery offshore before finalizing its development plan, which is expected to enhance energy security throughout West Africa. Through its local affiliate Azule Energy, Eni is developing two multi-billion-dollar projects in Angola: the New Gas Consortium, set to deliver 350 million cubic feet of gas per day by early-2026, and the Agogo Field Development in offshore Block 15/06.
Beyond hydrocarbons, Eni is actively investing in Africa’s renewable energy sector, aligning with global energy transition goals. The company has launched solar and wind projects in key markets such as Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt while supporting biofuel production initiatives that integrate local agricultural value chains. With a strong commitment to sustainability and local partnerships, Eni continues to drive Africa’s energy future by balancing resource development with environmental and social responsibility.
As Africa looks to attract new investments and accelerate energy infrastructure development, the IAE 2025 Forum in Paris will provide a platform for high-level discussions between policymakers, industry leaders and financial stakeholders. Bello’s participation underscores Eni’s commitment to Africa’s energy sector and its role in shaping the continent’s energy landscape for decades to come.
